Time is ticking, the day is drawing near, you feel like you’re in a rush. Don’t you want to take a minute to stop and say ‘Give me Time’

Let’s take a look at this topic ‘Give me Time’.

When you tell people to give you time, you are telling people, that you need to take your time so you can work effectively. You do not want to rush what is taking place, you want to get to the other side so in order to do you must take your time. Once you have sown a seed, you must give it time to grow into a flower. When you put the cake ingredients in the oven, you have to give it time so it can cook, so it can cook on the inside and the outside. You need time to get it right……………..

Acts 15: 37 – 40

And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

2 Timothy 4;11

Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry

Let’s take a look at the story of Paul and John Mark, it’s a very perplexing story. Paul and Barnabas were doing well, they were preaching the gospel all over and everything was good. At that time, they had with them someone called John Mark. He abandoned Paul at Pamphylia, he walked away from the work that was set.

Now came a time they were at a place called Antioch, things were heated and Paul got into a dispute with Barnabas. Barnabas wanted to bring John Mark but Paul knew it wasn’t the right time because he wasn’t ready……….. Barnabas took John Mark to Cyprus and Paul took Silas

Let’s now fast forward to 2 Timothy, Paul is now entering his final moments of life, he has run his race, he has finished the course, he now needs to pass on the reigns. He summons his son, Timothy and tells him to fetch John Mark for he is profitable to the ministry. It was now time for John Mark to step up, he is ready to go into ministry. All the way back in Acts, he wasn’t ready, he had to deal with the things that were stopping, he needed time to get straight but now John Mark is ready to take on the ministry. What a transformation, what a turnaround……………

In between Acts and 2 Timothy, I believe John Mark had time to train himself, time to strengthen his resolve. When you give people time, you will profit from it.

God is a God of Perfection, he loves to take his time when creating people. When creating a piece of perfection, you would take your time with it. In this time, people love to rush certain parts of their life, they rush to get jobs, become parents just because other people are doing it. When it’s your time, you will know, God will call you and tell you specifically. Until then, tell the people ‘Give me Time’

It may not look how you saw it, it may not look how you thought it would look but the message today is ‘ Give me Time’………………….. Whenever you feel rushed, whenever you feel like people are much pressuring you just say these three words ‘Give me Time’

Paul sent John Mark away and gave him time and look at the results. Just look at  what can happen when you give people time. From a seed to a flower, From empty to whole, from raw to cooked, give it time. There is a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3). Give it time……….

‘Give me time, Give me time’
