‘I can’t hear God talking to me’

‘ I speak to God but it’s as if he doesn’t respond’

Two opening questions for us to ponder on –

Who are you listening to? What are you listening to?

We have established that if are to communicate with God, we must first be listening to what he says and we can only that we clear away all distractions around us. So, you’re now listening but are you tuned in?

It’s not enough to just listen, you have to be in tune, you have to be in sync to really understand the full essence of what is being said. Sometimes we like to think we hear from God and we initially understand what he has said but 9 times out of 10, we find out that we don’t quite understand what is said.

God loves to communication, in fact, there is not a day that will go by when God is not communicating with his people. Even though we don’t talk to him, he still talks to us. Whenever God wants to send out a message, he will speak it and send it out through the airwaves and that is done through the Holy Spirit. The ones who pick up what’s being said are the ones who are in tune with the Holy Spirit

In the opening passages of Revelations, we see this phrase being repeated – ‘He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Church.’ In essence, we can see that the Church must be in sync with the Holy Spirit so they can hear what’s being said.

If you think of a radio, there will be several stations. You will know if you are on the right station because you can hear it clearly. God’s word is very clear and straightforward but when you are out of sync, everything in fuzzy, it’s not clear, you can hardly hear what is playing on the radio. This is exactly what it’s like when you are not in sync with the Holy Spirit.

If we are going to be obedient towards God, first we must be in sync with the Holy Spirit and secondly we must be listening intensively.

‘Heaven has a frequency, if we ever going to hear what is on that frequency, we must get connected’
